Over Labor Day weekend, the Greater Phoenix CVB and the Valley Hotel & Resort Association helped kick off “Operation White Christmas, Fore Our Soldiers.” The goal is to deliver thousands of golf balls to Arizona soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The organizations partnered with Troon Golf and the Westin Kierland Resort for the campaign.

Gimme shelter

Knoxville’s Candlewood Suites didn’t throw away soft goods after upgrading its guest rooms. It donated used beds, linens and other bedding to Mission of Hope, which distributed the soft goods to families across East Tennessee. The hotel’s used chairs and sofas have been earmarked for distribution to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

In Boerne, Texas, the second Saturday of every month is celebrated with a wine and art tour of downtown. The Creek Restaurant’s free red and green trolley shuttles passengers between galleries, restaurants and hotels from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
