Spring break boosts hopes on Galveston Island
Published: April 2, 2009
Restaurateurs, hoteliers, shop owners and beach restoration workers in Galveston Island, Texas, saw a big payoff last month when Spring Break visitors contributed an estimated $36 million to the island’s economy. Galveston was hit by Hurricane Ike on Sept. 13, and the local recovery workers put in many hours to make sure everything would be open for business by mid-March.
Plan Your Meetings caught up with Galveston Island CVB’s Senior National Sales Manager Vicky Corrington last time she was in Atlanta. In this short video, she talks about the island’s recovery efforts and what surprises meeting planners most about the destination.
