The 64-room Hotel Indigo London Paddington opened. It is the first Hotel Indigo to open outside of North America. Three additional London Indigo properties are slated to open in the near future.
The Hyatt Regency Toronto, formerly a Holiday Inn, opened with 394 guest rooms and 30,000 square feet of meeting space.
National
Arizona
Phoenix
The METRO light-rail system now connects points between Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa. Fares are $1.25 per ride and can be purchased per day, week or month.
The Phoenix Convention Center completed a $600 million expansion, adding 570,000 square feet of space. It now has a total of more than 900,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Scottsdale
The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch completed a $50 million renovation. Upgrades to the 492-room property include contemporary décor, redesigned guest rooms and function spaces, and a $575,000 solar-powered water heating system.
California
Bakersfield
The Marriott at the Convention Center, formerly the Holiday Inn Select Bakersfield, opened with 259 guest rooms and 14,000 square feet of meeting space.
Florida
Coral Gables
The Hyatt Regency completed a $110 million renovation. The transformation includes a new façade and enhancements of its 242 rooms and 13,400 square feet of meeting space.
Jacksonville
The Hotel Indigo Jacksonville-Deerwood Park opened with 96 guest rooms, 2,100 square feet of meeting space and a waterfront café.
The 103-room Hampton Inn and Suites Jacksonville South-Bartram Park opened with 551 square feet of meeting space.
The Radisson Hotel Jacksonville Butler Boulevard upgraded its public areas and 167 guest rooms. New amenities include 32-inch high-definition LCD TVs, Web TV, cable Internet and Wi-Fi. In December, the hotel received a One Palm green certification from the Florida Green Lodging Program.
Key West
The 331-room Casa Marina Resort and Beach Club and the 150-room Reach Resort became part of the Waldorf Astoria collection.
Louisiana
New Orleans
The Astor Crowne Plaza completed a multi-million dollar renovation of its 707 guest rooms, lobby, fitness center and 32,000 square feet of meeting space.
Michigan
Wyoming
The LEED-certified Hyatt Place Grand Rapids-Wyoming opened with 113 rooms and 1,200 square feet of meeting space.
Mississippi
Jackson
The $65 million, state-of-the-art Jackson Convention Center Complex opened with 128,000 square feet of meeting space. It was build according to green standards and is awaiting LEED certification.
Nevada
Las Vegas
The 2,000-room Encore by Wynn Resorts opened on the Las Vegas Strip. The resort property has 60,000 square feet of meeting space and access to an additional 200,000 square feet of meeting space in its adjoining sister property, Wynn Las Vegas.
New Jersey
Jersey City
The Westin Jersey City Newport opens this month with 429 rooms and 20,500 square feet of meeting space.
New York
Long Island
The Holiday Inn Long Island City-Manhattan View opened with 136 guest rooms and 900 square feet of meeting space. It is the first hotel to showcase Holiday Inn’s new worldwide branding.
Texas
Dallas
The Sheraton Dallas is undergoing a $90 million renovation scheduled to be completed in June. Upgrades will include refurbishment of the hotel’s 1,840 rooms and public spaces.
Fort Worth
The $230 million Omni opened adjacent to the Fort Worth Convention Center with 614 rooms and 68,000 square feet of meeting and function space.
