Simple steps to green your next meeting

Published: June 29, 2008

Want to reduce the carbon footprint of future meetings and events? Create an environmental policy statement you can share with suppliers, attendees and other participants. Consider:

  • Using paperless technology (i.e., flashdrives or CDs pre-loaded with session handouts)
  • Choosing venues and accommodations connected to the airport by public transportation
  • Serving vegetarian meals or meals containing locally grown food
  • Only using recycled paper and printing on both sides
  • Turning off electricity and air conditioners when rooms are empty
  • Doing business with green-certified vendors, hotels and other suppliers
  • Purchasing carbon offsets
  • Recycling, reusing or donating items whenever possible
