Fly clear
Published: February 1, 2008
Travelers looking to skip security lines can register with Clear, a national registered traveler program. The program, which costs $100 for the initial year, plus a $28 TSA fee, requires travelers to show two forms of ID, and take fingerprint and iris scans. Travelers are then issued a biometric card, which allows them to access airport security fast lanes at airports nationwide, including JFK, LaGuardia and Newark, Denver, San Francisco and Orlando. Washington, D.C., airports are to open Clear lanes soon.
In 2007, Ernst & Young LLP conducted an independent audit of the company’s privacy policies and practices, a first for the registered traveler industry. For more information on the TSA’s Registered Traveler program, visit tsa.gov.
