Florida on the move

Published: November 8, 2007

Actively stepping into the world of rich media and mobile communications, VISIT FLORIDA has launched Open Florida, a mobile studio utilizing a customized recreational vehicle modified to serve as a video production studio. It is the first of its kind in the U.S. tourism industry.

The colorful RV, branded in high-visibility custom Florida signage, is traveling around the state with a crew that produces short, unscripted videologues documenting its travels. The crew also produces “character” profiles and maintains weekly blogs on VISITFLORIDA.com.

“They’re shooting real life in Florida,” says Bud Nocera, president and CEO of VISIT FLORIDA. “…actual visitors — no heroes or pro actors.”

Information will be distributed through a number of Web-based channels: VISITFLORIDA.com Web site; participating partner Web sites; and through syndication and viral distribution to a network of popular global travel sites.
