The Woodlands branches out
Published: February 6, 2007
Traditionally thought of as a suburb of Houston, The Woodlands is setting out to change all that. The newly formed The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau aims to promote the city as a premiere leisure and meetings destination.
The city has 1,400 total guest rooms in properties such as the Four-Diamond Woodlands Marriott Hotel & Convention Center (70,000 square feet of meeting space) and the Woodlands Resort & Conference Center (60,000 square feet of IACC-certified meeting space). Other amenities include championship golf, an outdoor amphitheater, a waterway, and upscale dining and shopping.
Another big plus is its proximity to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, allowing attendees to skip Houston’s infamous traffic completely.
