Universal Orlando Resort issues severe weather cancellation policy

Published: August 29, 2006

Insurance may be hard to come by and no one can predict the weather, so Universal Orlando Resort is luring travelers and meetings planners with a “no questions asked” severe weather cancellation policy, in effect through Nov. 30, 2006.

“This is the right thing to do for our guests,” said Dennis Quinn, vice president of revenue management and leisure sales. “We’ve done this informally for a long while, but felt we needed to make this policy official. Our hope is to eliminate any stress of worry guests may have about weather affecting their vacation.”

The policy allows guests to cancel or re-schedule trips that may be affected by an active named storm. The resort will assist in re-scheduling the trip or issue a complete refund. Eligible trips must be booked though the resort a minimum of seven days in advance and cancelled before 6 p.m. the day prior to arrival.
