Keeping an eye on the high cost of travel

Published: June 30, 2006

Expedia.com released two new site features geared to helping business and consumer travelers cut expenses. “Despite rising prices and industry reports of more costly air travel, demand for summer travel remains strong,” says John Morrey, vice president of air at Expedia.com. “[We’re] constantly looking for ways to leverage our travel intelligence to help travelers save time and money."

The Expedia Fare Alert is a downloadable desktop application that regularly searches available fares within a specified range and alerts customers when there’s a match. The Expedia Gas Station Locator provides a list of gas stations with the lowest gas prices near the top 50 U.S. airports, so rental car users can avoid overpaying for gas at the end of their trip.
