Take me out to the hotel

Published: June 1, 2006

Holiday Inn is now the “Official Hotel of Major League Baseball (MLB).”

“We are excited to join these two iconic brands,” says Mark Snyder, senior vice president, brand management, of Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts in the Americas. “Research shows that large numbers of baseball fans are also loyal Holiday Inn guests, and vice-versa.” According to a nationwide study conducted by Scarborough Research, more than six in 10 Holiday Inn guests (roughly 13.5 million) are self-identified baseball fans, and ballpark attendees account for 24 percent of the hotel’s total room nights.

The three-year partnership will give Priority Club Rewards members, who earn loyalty points staying at Holiday Inn and sister InterContinental Hotels Group PLC properties, unusual opportunities such as being on-field to watch batting practice, throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a World Series game, or purchasing officially licensed MLB merchandise or postseason tickets. Baseball fans will be given the chance to win an “ultimate road trip,” sponsored by the hotel chain.

Holiday Inn also will sponsor five baseball clubs — the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins — in addition to MLB events such as the upcoming All-Star FanFest, taking place July 7-11 in Pittsburgh, Penn.
