LIVE 2009 Charlotte

When Planners Speak, PYM Listens!

2009 has been a challenging year. But at Plan Your Meetings, we’re focused on developing solutions and bringing you the tools you need to succeed. We’ve traveled the country to talk with your industry peers, and continued the conversation through Webinars and social networks, countless e-mails and phone calls. Now, we’d like to bring our findings, strategies and solutions to you at our first-ever PYM LIVE Charlotte event.

We know that you carry a heavy load and a great deal of responsibility. You are a mighty meeting planner and it’s time for your voice to be heard! Tell us your obstacles and problems. Use us as a forum to share accolades, accomplishments and suggestions with your peers, as well.

PYM LIVE Charlotte will kick off at 10 a.m. with an intimate, tabletop trade show. Here, you’ll be able to meet face to face with meeting industry suppliers who want to help you plan better meetings and events, whether they’re being held in your backyard or across the country. Then, join us as for a luncheon, sponsored by the Omni Charlotte Hotel, as keynote presenter Kristi Casey Sanders delivers “Meeting Industry Challenges and Solutions,” an interactive presentation that tackles not only what meeting professionals around the country are dealing with, but offers solutions to your personal challenges, as well.

Bring your cell phones and get ready to Tweet! PYM will have a live Twitter fountain streaming on our Web site, so if you do Twitter, you can follow the conversation or post your own thoughts using the hashtag #pymnc. Throughout the educational session, you’ll be able to text in questions using your cell phone, thanks to The Extreme Group — who provides us with an interactive audience polling experience like no other.

I look forward to meeting all of you!

Meeting Industry Challenges and Solutions

Presented by Kristi Casey Sanders

Short booking windows, cancellations, miniscule budgets, contract
re-negotiations, government regulation and massive attrition: These are but
a few of the challenges meeting and event planners have faced in 2009. Plan
Your Meetings Editorial Director Kristi Casey Sanders has held roundtable
discussions with meeting professionals in Atlanta, Dallas and Austin to
discover what solutions they’ve found to current crises. In this session,
she will present those findings as well as engage the audience to help them
develop solutions for unique issues they may be facing.

About the presenter:

Kristi Casey Sanders is the editorial director/chief storyteller of Plan
Your Meetings (PYM), an interactive educational and social resource for
meeting and event planners. She has been covering industry trends and
reporting on the meetings and convention industry since 2003. Prior to
joining the PYM team, she provided corporate entertainment and training in
Amsterdam, teaching multinational corporate groups soft skills through
improv comedy. She is a frequent educational speaker for organizations such
as the Society of Government Meeting Planners, Meeting Professionals
International, SITE and the International Association of Administrative
Professionals, on topics ranging from how meeting planners can prove their
worth at work to how they can change the world one meeting at a time.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the smaller show, but I really like it. In terms of the tradeshow, I liked the intimacy of it. At the Expo, I didn’t have enough time to see everyone. I love your magazine. — Georgia Roy
