LIVE 2009 Birmingham

Budgets, contracts, headaches……Oh my!

2009 has been a challenging year. But at Plan Your Meetings, we’re focused on developing solutions and bringing you the tools you need to succeed. Contract negotiations, confusing clauses and budget-blowing fees are some of the top challenges meeting professionals face. So on October 21, we’d like to bring our findings, strategies and solutions to you at our second annual PYM LIVE Birmingham event.

Hosted by the beautiful Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, the event begins at 2 p.m. with an intimate, tabletop trade show. Here, you’ll be able to meet face to face with meeting industry suppliers who want to help you plan better meetings and events, whether they’re being held in your backyard or across the country. Then keynote presenter Kevin R. Johnston, CMP delivers “Contracts: Tips, Traps and Tactics,” an interactive presentation that will not only show you strategies and solutions to your contract negotiations, but also will leave you feeling like an expert!

Bring your cell phones and get ready to Tweet! PYM will have a live Twitter fountain streaming on our Web site, so if you do Twitter, you can follow the conversation or post your own thoughts using the hashtag #pymbham.

Please join us for two hours of networking, strategizing, education, and (of course) FUN!

I look forward to seeing you there!

Contracts: Tips, Traps and Tactics

Presented by Kevin Johnston, CMP

In the hospitality industry everything is contracted – sleeping rooms, entertainers, catering, transportation and so much more. This session will touch upon how to navigate and negotiate key contract areas that can work for or against you as you plan your next event: Rates, performance, cancellation, force majeure (Acts of God), rooms and food and beverage attrition.

About the Speaker:
A veteran in the hospitality and events industry for more than 25 years, Kevin got his start while producing concerts and large college events while attending Brigham Young University. Today, Kevin is the Founder and CEO of the Advantage Event Group, providing global venue procurement, planning and marketing expertise for events, trades shows and conferences. He is also the Managing Partner of Med Prof Ed, LLC, an international professional education firm that delivers continuing medical programs in Europe to Physicians & Surgeons that specialize in Dermatological and Plastic Surgery.
