Welcome to Plan Your Meetings’ 2007 Houston Expo. These pages are your first look at an event we hope will reshape the way you look at yourself, your business and the meeting planning industry.

Budgets, ROI, more and better for less… we could go on and on, but we know you’ve heard it all. Instead, we’re going to show you the reason you got into meeting planning in the first place. The theme of the day is “Take Your Meetings from Ordinary… to Extraordinary” and that’s what we’re planning to do for you. Our keynote presentation, seminar session and other activities are designed to help recharge your creative juices, delivering ideas and resources that will ensure memorable, successful events while meeting budget realities.

This is not a dry, boring, all-work and no-play tradeshow. Yes, we’ll get down to business: You’re going to enjoy high-level advice, education and peer interaction. But we’re also going to treat and entertain you: Meet over coffee; put your mark on our Best Places to Meet Map; tour the beautiful host facility and gardens; win great prizes… and more.

Start here. We’ve created these pages to help you plan your Expo day and connect with other planners, exhibitors and our staff. You can share other conference experiences and ideas in a blog, and set meetings with exhibitors and attendees. Get involved and have fun. Be sure to sign up early!

If you need a note for your boss, let me know. I’ll convince her or him that you’ll be working hard all day (wink) but it will pay off in spades (that’s the truth)!

I can’t wait to see you there,

Keynote Speaker

The Truth About Success
Being the Best vs. Being Consistently Chosen

garrison wynn

Presented by Garrison Wynn

Success is more than being good at what you do; it’s about being consistently chosen to do it. Learn how to get attendees and your corporate entities to “buy into” your ideas. Garrison helps people to understand why their products, services or leadership styles — or those of their competitors — are selected. People don’t necessarily choose what’s best; they choose what they are most comfortable with. We’ve all heard the importance of “best practices” and superior knowledge, so why aren’t the smartest people with the most information always in charge or number one in their field? This keynote provides original research on managing expectations and emotions, and shows that there really is more to success than being the best.

About the speaker: Garrison Wynn, CSP, is an award-winning keynote speaker renowned for his dynamic blend of original humor, customized content, and research into what the most successful people have in common. He has worked with some of the world’s most effective corporate leaders and salespeople, from multibillion-dollar manufacturers to top New York Stock Exchange wire houses. An experienced actor in films and a former professional stand-up comedian, he has hosted PBS television specials and national radio programs.
