- The 253-room Sandpearl Resort & Spa recently opened. Amenities include 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a beachfront event lawn.
- Other recently opened properties include the all-suite, beachside Residence Inn by Marriott on Treasure Island and the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites on Clearwater Beach, which has suites catering to families traveling with children.
- The Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort recently completed renovations.

- The TradeWinds Grand Resort has completed a $1.6 million refurbishment to approximately 35,000 square feet of meeting space.
- A 75-room Hotel Indigo is expected to open in early 2009.
- The Residence Inn by Marriott on Treasure Island opened with 105 one- to three-bedroom units.
- The Armed Forces Military Museum opened. It has the state’s largest collection of authentic military artifacts, ranging from WWI to the present day.
