Hotels and hidden fees
Posted by Kristi Casey Sanders on May 30, 2007 at 10:14 amRecently, a class-action suit was filed against Starwood Hotels for including mandatory “bell gratuity” and “housekeeping gratuity” fees without disclosing those charges would be added to the guest’s bill when the room is booked and confirmed. Sometimes properties charge resort fees, which take the place of paying gratuities to hotel staff. What is your view on these service charges? Do you add riders to contracts to ensure your attendees don’t have to pay them?
