What green advice do you need?

What a year we experienced with 2008!  We saw the greenest Democratic National Convention in history produced in Denver, witnessed the Summer Olympics in China, elected a new president and, unfortunately witnessed the deconstruction of our financial industry.

Within the meetings and events industry, we also began to experience a shift in how we conduct business.  Last year, being “green” started to go mainstream. Many of us not only began to research how we could modify our actions and reduce our negative impact on the environment on a personal level, but also what we could do to mitigate our impact as an industry.

In this column, I have addressed ways meeting planners can begin implementing more sustainable practices and policies. From gaining organizational support and creating eco-friendly checklists to educating attendees and taking metrics, we have discussed many steps planners can begin greening their meetings.

Before we move forward, I would like to hear what you, as planners and vendors, would like to discuss. What are your roadblocks and challenges? What would you like to learn more about:  Renewable Energy Credits?  Carbon Offset Programs? The upcoming Green Meeting Standards being developed by APEX and the EPA?

You tell me and I will answer — or find someone who can. I look forward to hearing from you!
