The Sweet Life: June 2008 Morsel

Published: June 1, 2008

There are times in life when I feel I have the sweetest job on earth. This past week was one of those times — literally and figuratively.

I got to walk the show floor of the National Candy Wholesalers Association while working in Chicago. Talk about being a kid in the world largest candy store! What did I learn while walking the aisles stuffed with every goody imaginable? That Jelly Bellies’ new pomegranate jelly beans are very good; and Dubble Bubble is now available sugar-free and is worth the “pop.” But what I was really there looking for were low-fat coffee break items.

My favorite wasn’t sugary, sweet or even chocolate. It was a dry-roasted edamame bean, lightly salted.  These were so good — and exactly the guiltless, salty crunch my clients were looking for.

Be careful, though. They also come in a wasabi flavor that will make your eyes water.
