PYM Tips and Things We Like: Feburary 2006

Published: February 6, 2006

Villa Christina, Bocce ball, "flight nights," and a telephone chain.

Things We Like

• Barbequed shrimp and grits appetizer at Villa Christina served on a ceramic spoon (on a tray designed to hold several for serving a crowd). Attractive, easy to maneuver, not messy - and oh, so delicious. Great idea.

• Bocce ball courts at Brio Tuscan Grille on Ashwood Parkway in Atlanta. The Italian form of lawn bowling is gaining enthusiasts in the U.S., and makes a fun, challenging addition to a corporate event. Wake them up after a lunch meeting with a different teambuilding activity!

• The Associated Luxury Hotels 2005 "Five Diamond Tour" ended with a drawing for a one-carat diamond. During this years' tour, diamonds valued at more than $50,000 will be given away in one-carat diamond solitaires to lucky planners.

Tips

• River Room Restaurant and Tavern in Atlanta (riverroom.com) has added Port and Vodka tastings to its "flight nights," an unexpected twist on a tried-and-true mixer format.

• Prepare for the unexpected by making sure all attendees and key point people have copies of a telephone chain list in case of emergency.
